Accessory Organs

Some organisms use accessory organs to help them with osmotic and ionic balance. These organs include the gills of aquatic animals and nasal glands of some birds and reptiles. But we must not forget about other organs that are used in osmotic balance. These include the alimentary canal and the cloaca.
