Cub Mortality - Predation

Approximately 1 out of every 20 cheetah cubs survives to sexual maturity. Mortality of the cubs is high. There are many animals that can kill cheetah cubs. Major predators of young cheetahs include hyenas, jackals, baboons, warthogs, leopards, and lions. Large ungulates like zebra and wildebeest can trample young cubs. Most of the predation occurs during the first four months of life.
